The vineyard surrounds the château. It is an uninterrupted stretch on the plateau of Puy de Menjon, that shares a remarkable terroir with its neighbour, Château Fonréaud.
From the highest point in the Médoc, the vineyard overlooks the churches of Listrac and Moulis and, when the weather is clear, the banks of the Gironde.
Its location and exposure to prevailing winds are very conducive to slow and regular ripening of the grapes.
The terroir of Château Lestage consists mainly of Pyrenees gravel on the plateau, with clay-limestone soil and marl on the slopes. This specific terroir led us to favour the Merlot variety, with grapes that yield delightful juice on this type of soil.
